Injuries Can Affect Growth Plates
I don’t know if you ever notice but many kids are stressed out. They’re playing lots of sports, they’re out there all the time exercising, and we as adults often will treat our children as if they’re adults too. When it comes to injury, that is a big mistake because children are not just little adults. I’ll give you an example. All of us have turned our ankle at one point or another and we know that we can stretch a ligament and cause problems. It gets swelling and pain, and usually ice will bring it down. But children when they turn their ankles actually can damage growth plates and have fractures with the same injury. Adults just don’t know it.
